NPD investigating fatal shootings on Fairgrounds Road in Dec., Dorothy Street in Jan.

The Natchitoches Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead.On Dec. 27, around 11 p.m., NPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Fairgrounds Road. in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

NPD apprehends 3rd suspect in kidnapping, robbery case

The Natchitoches Police Department was notified that Damontriaze Turner was apprehended in Texas after being wanted for over a month.Turner is charged with two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery and aggravated second degree battery.

People in Natchitoches were busy getting ready for Christmas if building permit activity is any predictor.According to the December permit activity report issued by the City Planning and Zoning Commission Director Shontrel Roque, the office issued only 23 permits with a total valuation of $333,519.
