The most significant news at the City Council meeting Monday was about street improvements.
The Council adopted a resolution that executed a certificate of substantial completion of the contract with Apeck Construction LLC for the completion of the intersection at East Fifth and Bienville streets and the overlay of East Fifth from Keyser to Royal streets.
The City Rehabilitation Program paid for the project as well as the overlay of a portion of Woodyard. That project also corrected drainage, especially at the intersection of East Fifth and Bienville.
