Demons ‘grind out’ 9-3 win over Southern Jaguars as pitcher gets first win

Wednesday night’s non-conference matchup with Southern gave the Northwestern State baseball team a chance to respond.The Demons did so in workmanlike fashion, grinding out a 9-3 victory against the visiting Jaguars at Brown-Stroud Field, bouncing back from Tuesday’s loss to Louisiana Tech.

The Lady Chiefs Softball Team had a successful year, so much so that the team members are 1-5A District champs. So far this year, the team has a record of 22-6 with three games left this season.

Rain delay doesn’t stop Demons 4x400 relay team at Leon Johnson Invitational

Neither mother nature or the other competitors could stop the Northwestern State men’s 4x400 relay team.After a two-hour weather delay, the Demons showed their mental toughness by capping off the day on Friday with their finest race in the history of the program.

Demon baseball team beats University of Texas Rio Grande Valley 17-9

Being complementary in two phases was enough for the Northwestern State baseball team in its Southland Conference series opener at UTRGV on Thursday night.Led by a career night from Ethan Menard, the Demons posted a season-high in runs and rolled to a 179 victory against the homestanding Vaqueros.

NSU soccer prospect ID camps are in April

A trio of Northwestern State soccer Prospect ID Camps have been set.The spring session is set for April 25, and the two separate summer sessions are set for June 28 and July 26.Both camps cost $150 per camper.The camps are open for girls from ninth grade through college seniors.

Locals named to All-State

Two Lakeview Gators and one from Lady Tiger from St. Mary’s were named to the Louisiana Sport Writers Association (LSWA) All State Basketball teams .On the boy’s team were Daylon Telsee, a 5-5 senior who averaged 16 points per game was named the 1A-A All State team.

Softball auction rescheduled

Northwestern State softball’s annual auction has a new date and location. After winter storm Fern forced the postponement of the annual fundraising event back in January, head coach Jenny Fuller announced the new date and venue of April 11 at Flying Heart in Natchitoches.

Memorial for Goodwin will be April 25 at Turpin

Northwestern State and the Natchitoches community will have a final chance to say thank you and goodbye to legendary Demon football coach Sam Goodwin in a most fitting place.Goodwin, who passed away March 20 at age 82, will be honored with a memorial celebration at Turpin Stadium at 10 a.m.

Demon Brothers Booster crawfest is after Delaney Bowl

The Demon Brothers Booster Club’s Crawfest event is set for April 25 will take place following Northwestern State’s annual Joe Delaney Bowl spring football game.
