United Way Day of Caring draws 400 participants

More than 400 participants united across Northwest Louisiana on Thursday, May 14, helping local nonprofit organizations save an estimated $55,691.88 in labor costs during United Way of Northwest Louisiana’s (UWNWLA) annual Day of Caring, presented in part by Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana.

Bossier Parish Community College is bringing one-stop enrollment services directly to communities across Northwest Louisiana through a series of registration events designed to help current and prospective students prepare for the Fall 2026 semester.

Visit with the Bagpipe Saturday at HOF and Museum

The Louisiana Folklife Center at Northwestern State University will present “A Visit with the Bagpipe” at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum at 800 Front Street in Natchitoches. The event will be free and open to the general public.

NPSO deputies arrest man in stolen vehicle with semi-automatic rifle

A Lafayette man wanted in Texas was arrested Friday afternoon after Natchitoches Parish Sheriff ’s Deputies located him driving a reported stolen vehicle, resulting in the seizure of illegal narcotics and an AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.
