Shutdown: Over 7,000 will not get SNAP benefits in this Parish

Some 7,728 Natchitoches Parish residents, which equates to 20 percent of the overall population, will receive no new SNAP benefits for groceries beginning Nov. 1.Gov. Jeff Landry is warning all SNAP welfare cardholders the halt in benefits is due to the federal government shutdown in Washington, DC.

Patriotic symphony concert will be free to veterans

The Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra will present a patriotic concert titled “The American Spirit Will Endure” on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Douglas Bakenhus is the orchestra’s music director.

Witch Way to Main Street location moved

Due to pending inclement weather Witch Way to Main Street trick or treating on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon has moved to the MLK Recreational Center at 660 Martin Luther King Jr Dr. 

Library has ‘Fine ForGIVING’

The Natchitoches Parish Library (NPL) announces the return of its annual “Fine For-GIVING” program, running October through December. This initiative offers patrons the chance to reduce their library fines while giving back to the community during the holiday season.
