Shutdown: Over 7,000 will not get SNAP benefits in this Parish

Some 7,728 Natchitoches Parish residents, which equates to 20 percent of the overall population, will receive no new SNAP benefits for groceries beginning Nov. 1.Gov. Jeff Landry is warning all SNAP welfare cardholders the halt in benefits is due to the federal government shutdown in Washington, DC.

Patriotic symphony concert will be free to veterans

The Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra will present a patriotic concert titled “The American Spirit Will Endure” on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall. Douglas Bakenhus is the orchestra’s music director.

Medical Center Imaging Center wins 3-year MRI accreditation

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center Imaging Center has been awarded a threeyear term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

The Cenla Medication Access Program’s (CMAP) Cancer Screening Mobile Unit will be in Natchitoches Parish November 4-5 to offer free breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screenings for eligible Central Louisiana residents.
