Central High Celebrating 60 years

In 1964, the Central High School Boys’ Basketball Team played in the playoff at Grambling State University. Although they lost the playoffs, the team was named the best team of the decade. Charles Bloodworth was inducted in the Northwestern State University Hall of Fame in 2015.

Winning in different ways is something second-year head coach Chris Bertrand wanted to see from his Northwestern State baseball team.The Demons did just that Wednesday night utilizing four sacrifice flies and a few timely hits to grab a 10-5 win against Alcorn at Brown-Stroud Field.

Southland Conference honors Knowles

Following a stellar performance at the LSU Twilight, Bernesha Knowles was honored by the Southland Conference.Knowles, a senior from The Bahamas, took home the SLC Female Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.The senior tossed a personal-best throw of 56-7.

Northwestern drops series finale to Troy Trojans

Given numerous chances to take advantage of free bases and free base runners, the Northwestern State baseball team could not convert in Sunday’s series finale at No. 24 Troy.The homestanding Trojans, however, had no such issues.
