Demons host Central Arkansas in season opener

New season, new-look stadium, same gritty team.That is the balance Northwestern State hopes to strike when the Demons open the 2025 baseball season by hosting former Southland Conference rival Central Arkansas at 6:30 p.m. in the renovated Brown-Stroud Field.

Second-year head coach Blaine McCorkle announced the addition of six signees Wednesday, bringing the total number of newcomers to the Demon program to 20. That total includes December prep signees, mid-year transfer entrees and the newest faces who joined the fold Wednesday morning.

Northwestern State will open a fall football season at home for the first time in a decade when the Demons start the 2025 campaign against Alcorn inside Turpin Stadium on Aug. 28.

The Northwestern State tennis team fell in their season opener Saturday to UT Chattanooga, 6-1.Despite the loss, the Lady Demons’ (0-1) second-year head coach Marcos Morelli is optimistic.“It went well, we got a lot of tennis in,” says Morelli.
