Lady Demons begin season at home against Champion Christian

The new-look Northwestern State women’s basketball team begins the 2024-25 season in front of the home fans, welcoming Champion Christian to Prather Coliseum on Tuesday.Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. and fans can catch the stream on ESPN+.Live stats will be available via www.nsudemons.

Demons cruise past Dallas Christian in season opener

Perfect it was not. Balanced and effective? That it was.The Northwestern State men’s basketball team shook off a bit of a sluggish start Monday night in its season opener against Dallas Christian inside Prather Coliseum, using a first-half run to set the tone for a 96-55 victory.

Seniors lead Northwestern State at SLC meet

Like they have most of the season, seniors Leah Thompson and Korbin Shumate led the way in their final races at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships.Competing in her final cross country race, Thompson once again led the women in the 6k race, running a 26:04.

Demons aim for regular season title at SFA this weekend

Northwestern State (10-6-2, 6-2-1) has a chance to win its second regular season Southland Conference title in four seasons.“One of the things that drew me here was the ability to compete for championships and this program having a tradition of doing that,” head coach Ian Brophy said.

Duck hunting season gets underway this weekend

The 2024 Louisiana duck hunting season begins Nov. 2-3 in the West Zone with a youth-only hunt, and the first split of the season opens a week later, on Nov. 9, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced.The East Zone’s youth-veterans only hunt will be Nov.

Tennis finishes fall season at Lamar

The Northwestern State tennis team aims to finish the fall season strong at the Joy Pyburn Invitational. The tournament began Friday and runs through Sunday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the campus of Lamar.

NSU alum honored during homecoming football game

In continuing its tradition of honoring those who serve in the nation’s Armed Forces, Northwestern State University recognized the military service of Captain Dominitra Charles during its homecoming game on October 26.
