Soggy field is ‘home, sweet home’ as game called after 7 innings

A soaked field that needed all hands on deck to make it playable proved to be home sweet home for the Northwestern State baseball team Monday afternoon.

‘Best of the Best’ high school athletes honored Saturday

The “Best-of-the-Best” awards ceremony that honors Natchitoches Parish senior high school athletes, Natchitoches Leadership Through Athletics Committee (NLTAC), has a new component to this year’s awards celebration.

Northwestern State University will hold seven sessions of its freshman orientation program, Freshman Connection, beginning May 22.Four sessions will be at the Natchitoches campus on May 22-23, May 29-30, June 13 and July 10-11.

Northwestern State drops heartbreaker to Tigers

A two-run home run in the eighth inning made the difference for Northwestern State in Tuesday night’s game at LSU.It was the Demons’ inability to break through early that ultimately proved the toughest hurdle for NSU to overcome in a 6-5 loss at Alex Box Stadium.

Lakeview basketball player going to North Arkansas College

Lakeview is continuing its tradition of signing athletes to the next level. This year’s new signee is the awesome Alonzo Driver.Alonzo has posted quite a career at Lakeview with 125-38 record giving him a 77%win percentage.

HOF Foundation hopes to boost funds for facility upgrades

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation, boosting efforts to generate funds to support its museum in Natchitoches including technology upgrades at the 11-year-old facility, will participate in “Give for Good Day” to complement its fund-raising initiatives.

Tigers golf tourney and crawfish boil will support football team

St. Mary’s Catholic School Golf Tournament and Crawfish Boil is scheduled for Friday, May 24, at the Northwestern Hills Golf Course.Tee time is at noon with registration at 11a.m. The crawfish boil will begin around 4:30 p.m.Prizes will be awarded to the top three golf teams.
