Dylan Kyle Poche bass tournament brings in more than $45,000

Three incoming Northwestern State University students were named recipients of this year’s Dylan Kyle Poche Memorial Fishing Scholarships. They are Ayden Slack of Vivian and Caleb Johnson and Colin Cosenza, both of Many, who will join NSU’s competitive Bass Fishing Team.

Honorable mention goes to 3 Chiefs

Three Natchitoches Central players received honorable mention All-State recognition on the Class 5A baseball and softball teams. They were Ross Lindsey on the baseball roster, and Maggie Massia and Morgan Robinson on the softball roster.

NSU assistant coach tapped for St Mary’s

Stacey Aldredge is the new girls volleyball head coach at St Mary’s. She will also be teaching Physical Science and Life Skills.Aldredge joins the Tiger family after coaching volleyball for the last seven years at the collegiate level as Associate Head Coach at Northwestern State University.

Spots still open for youth camp next week

Registration remains open for next week’s Chris Bertrand Baseball Youth Camp. Spots are still open for one camp, which will take place June 10-12 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Parc Natchitoches, located at 4515 University Parkway. The June 3-5 camp has been canceled.

Anglers of all ages fish for free

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) invites all to take part in its annual Free Fishing Weekend Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9. Louisiana’s Free Fishing Weekend allows residents and visitors to fish Louisiana waters without an otherwise required fishing license.
