No. 5 Natchitoches Central Chiefs were outscored in Saturday night’s Division 1 nonselect boys Championship game against No. 2 Ponchatoula Green Wave. Final score was 75-60.Top- seeded Lakeview Gators lost to No. 6 Franklin Hornets in the Division IV nonselect championship game Friday, 50-45.

Thank goodness Northwestern State doesn’t play again until Sunday.We’ll need the break after this marathon game, as the Northwestern State men’s basketball team lost an 83-80 heartbreaker in triple overtime Wednesday at Texas A&MCommerce to conclude the regular season.

The Southland Conference men’s basketball schedule makers saved what could be the most emotional road game of Northwestern State’s season for last.When the Demons face the Lions at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, it will mark just the fourth meeting between the teams since January of 1987.

Demons ready for rematch with Cajuns
