Pedraza’s production trends upward

Like many college students, it took Jared Pedraza some time to develop the right study habits.The one difference between Pedraza and some of his classmates is his lack of interest in studying early in his college career was relegated to practice and game film not classwork.

Core group gives Nimz, Lady Demons confidence

Entering her fourth season at the helm of the Northwestern State women’s basketball program, Anna Nimz is in an unusual situation for her.“As a junior college product and as a junior college coach, I’m used to coaching kids for two years,” she said at Tuesday’s Southland Conference Media Day.

Demon cross country continues season with Watson Meet

Following a twoweek break from competitive meets against outside competition, the Northwestern State men’s and women’s cross country teams head to Mississippi for their final meet before the Southland Conference championships, taking part in the Watson Meet on campus of Mississippi College.

Fourth quarter the difference as Demons fall at Lamar

In a see-saw battle of momentum Saturday afternoon, the Northwestern State football team found itself at the low end of the fulcrum.The Demons methodically battled back from a couple of early deficits in their Southland Conference opener at Lamar, falling to the Cardinals 27-13.

Tigers shutout LaSalle

Saint Mary’s Tigers defended the home field in district opener against LaSalle last Friday. The Tigers hosted LaSalle for homecoming with an undefeated record on the line.

NSU lands Accelerated Academic Success Program grant

Northwestern State’s studentathletes picked up a six-figure assist from the NCAA as part of the organization’s Accelerating Academic Success Program.Established in 2012, the AASP assists Division I schools as they work to meet the NCAA’s academic standards.

Second half goals the difference as Northwestern State falls at Houston

A strong second half from Houston Christian was too much to overcome, as the Northwestern State soccer team fell 2-1 on the road Sunday afternoon in a Southland Conference contest at Sorrels Field.
