Young at Heart Luncheon

The Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held Dec. 6 at First United Methodist Church.Those attending celebrated the season by singing Christmas carols.Nettles Brown led the singing and Roxanne Lane accompanied on the piano. Evelyn Evans provided Christmas decorations for the tables.

Save the date for film festival

Cane River Film Festival founder Kelly L. Jackson wants you to save March 23, 2024, the date of the seventh film festival that will feature the screening of a new film.Dr. Ross Williams Jr. will present his documentary, “Women on the Barbed Wire Fence” along with other winning films.

Resource Center collecting toys

The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) is holding a Toy Drive through Dec.18. Folks can drop of new and gently used toys at Stella’s Christmas Store located at 524 Front St. All donated toys will go to WRC for distribution.

NSU schedules 2 days for fall commencements

Northwestern State University will hold Fall Commencement exercises at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 13 and 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14 in Prather Coliseum.During the 10 a.m.

NSU Chamber Choir Lessons and Carols will be at church

The Northwestern State University Chamber Choir will present a candlelight service of “Lessons and Carols” Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception at 145 Church St. in Natchitoches. Admission is free.Dr. Nicholaus B. Cummins will conduct the Chamber Choir.
