JT’s not real excited about it….but Daylight Savings Time returns this weekend. That’s right…we get to welcome the darkness earlier each day. Saturday night is when you move your clocks up one hour before you go to bed... or like a lot of people you can do it when you wake up Sunday morning.

Detention Center costs rising for Parish Government

The Parish Council continues to grapple with escalating fees from LaSalle Corrections that operates the detention center.At the Parish Council Oct. 20, Monday, Parish Treasurer Julie Lockhart said the detention center has 120 beds at a cost of $26.39 per bed daily.

Here’s to Safe Digging---Call 811

Louisiana 811 serves as a natural reminder for residents to contact 811 prior to any digging project to have underground utility lines marked. Every few minutes, an underground utility line is damaged because someone decided to dig without first contacting 811.

School Board proposition on Nov. 15 election ballot

Sec. State Nancy Landry encourages voters to remember: Early voting is Nov. 1 – Nov. 8 (excluding Sunday, Nov. 2) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Early voting locations can be found at voterportal.sos.la.gov/ earlyvoting.The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Nov. 12 by 4:30 p.m.
