Each year on October 31st, people from all over celebrate Halloween. A favorite of children and those who like to tap into their “inner child”, Halloween is a day to dress up in costume, hand out candy (usually to children), and try to frighten each other and ourselves with spooky stories.

Lawmakers scramble to find SNAP benefits

Louisiana lawmakers have been pushing to keep food assistance flowing to 17% of the state’s residents and to adjust next spring’s election timetable.The Louisiana House has signed off an urgent request to repurpose $150 million by Friday to cover SNAP benefits for nearly 800,000 residents.

Sheriff’s Office asking for help in locating alleged rapist

Natchitoches Parish Sheriff ’s Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection with an alleged rape that occurred in Campti, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Stuart Wright.Detectives and patrol deputies responded to the incident on Oct 20.

Mobile cancer screening Nov. 4-5

The Cenla Medication Access Program’s (CMAP) Cancer Screening Mobile Unit will be in Natchitoches Parish November 4-5 to offer free breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screenings for eligible Central Louisiana residents.
