Last Saturday was just another example of why there are too many election dates in Louisiana. Out of a possible 23,136 voters, only about 2,800 cared enough to cast a ballot. (There were 950 people to do so absentee, while the other 2,021 did so in person.) That came to a 12.

Short-term rentals on agenda at City Council meeting

There was not much action at the City Council meeting Monday since it didn’t last even an hour.The Council introduced two planning and zoning ordinances for people applying to rezone residences for AirB&Bs or short term rentals.

Burn Ban declared in Parish

Because of the lack of rainfall and the extremely dry conditions Natchitoches Parish President John Salter has issued a Parish-wide burn ban effective immediately. The burn ban will remain in place until further notice.
