Gov. calls for lower auto insurance rates

Gov. Jeff Landry opened the 2025 legislative session with a warning: When it comes to fixing Louisiana’s insurance crisis, personal injury lawyers and insurance companies are in for a reckoning.Landry called the skyrocketing insurance rate a “dark cloud” that is looming over the state.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weather permitting, Bridge# 083508352000001 on LA 494 over Cane River will be reduced to one lane for bridge rail maintenance.

Gavel will pound Monday for start of Legislature

The Louisiana Legislature will gavel into session at noon on Monday, April 14, for the start of the 2025 Regular Session. It will run for eight weeks and must adjourn no later than 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12.

Governor pressing for reform of insurance industry in State

Gov. Jeff Landry called for major reforms to address the statewide insurance crisis affecting Louisiana families.In a speech on Wednesday, the governor criticized insurance companies and trial lawyers, who he said helped raise auto and homeowners insurance rates as insurers make record profits.
