Northwestern State to host festival for flute players

The Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts at Northwestern State University will host the Second Louisiana Flute Festival on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Magale Recital Hall.The event will include concerts, masterclasses, workshops, a flute choir and exhibits. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Louisiana State Police Superintendent Colonel Robert P. Hodges has detailed Lt. Christopher “Chris” Wright to the position of captain and troop Commander of Troop E in Alexandria. Effective Jan. 8, Wright succeeds recently promoted Maj. Jason Smith.

Part of Second Street will close for gas repairs

The City of Natchitoches announces the temporary closure of both lanes of Second Street, just north of the Union Pacific Railroad Crossing, beginning Monday, Feb. 3.T The closure is necessary to allow Atmos Energy to repair a gas line leak.

City Council votes to buy second street sweeper
