A funeral service celebrating the life of David Glynn Layfield, 56, was held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Coushatta, LA, with Pastor Richard Carey officiating. Interment followed in Holley Springs Cemetery in the Martin community.

Dr. Donald W. Hatley

 Dr. Donald W. Hatley passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 18, 2023.The youngest of three brothers, Hatley was born on June 1, 1940, in Dike, Texas to Jasper Lee and Gladys Lucille (McDonald) Hatley. He attended Sulphur Springs High School where he was an all-star football player in the state of Texas.

Kathleen Celine Prudhomme Batten was born Dec. 17, 1931, in Natchez, Louisiana, to Francis Reginald Prudhomme and Louise Desiree Cloutier Prudhomme. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Natchitoches, where she was a cheerleader, was crowned May Queen and graduated with honors.
