NSU educator major will serve as state Educators Rising president

Shae’Aunna Johnson of Many has been selected as state president of the Louisiana Association of Future Educators (LAFE) and Educators Rising Louisiana for the 202526 academic year.Johnson is a freshman at Northwestern State University majoring in early childhood education grades PreK3.

Phi Beta Delta inducts new members

Northwestern State University’s Eta Mu chapter of Phi Beta Delta, the honor society for international scholars, hosted a fall induction program Nov. 16.

Local contestants take titles at Miss Louisiana Volunteer

Jesse Foshee of Provencal won the title of Miss Louisiana Volunteer at the organization’s annual pageant in Minden.Foshee, an elementary education major at Northwestern State University, won the evening wear award and the Crystal Pierce Academic Scholarship Award.

The monthly Young at Heart luncheon for seniors was held on Nov. 5 at the First United Methodist Church.The Back Porch Band entertained everyone with their signature mix of Gospel, Popular, and Country music, ending with their renditions of “Danny Boy,” “Sixteen Tons,”,and “Keep on the Sunny Side.
