Literacy event Reading on the River returning

The Service League of Natchitoches will host Reading on the River, an annual community literacy event promoting the importance and enjoyment of reading outside of the classroom, on Saturday, March 14, 2026. The event will take place on the Natchitoches Riverbank from 10am-2pm.

Coushatta native Bennie Logan, a former National Football League (NFL) and Louisiana State University (LSU) athletic standout, will lead the inaugural winter parade as grand marshal for the Krewe of The 9-Mardi Gras krewe on Feb 21.

Sewer repairs

Keyser Ave. is reduced to two lanes with a speed limit of 5 mph Thursday from the NRMC Walk-In Clinic to Melrose Ave. due to necessary sewer repairs. By late afternoon repairs were completed and the road reopened.
